“Virtue” is a virtual desktop manager for Mac OS. It offers features, eye candy and configurable options that no other desktop manager on the mac has added yet, and is under active development. It is based upon DesktopManager, which is a lighter, less feature-packed virtual desktop application.

Virtue version 0.52r114

What's changed?

[RESTORED] The finder is now back on the ignore list, which means no more jumpy finder windows and interactions. Sorry about that.

Virtue version 0.52r112

What's changed?

[FIXED] Slowdown when starting was due to some dummy window transition code I had been playing with. It was associating a 0.75 second delay with each window being moved to another desktop.

[FIXED?] Finder was being excluded from auto-desktop switching. Not sure this was good behaviour, but I really need to give some thought to what I think about maintaining consistency in the underlying OS. We’re not changing icons across desktops, should we be making the finder sticky?

What's coming?

Documentation is underway, and should be available sometime within the next few releases. I’m also doing some work to try and make auto-desktop switching more consistent and reliable.

  • Memory consumption
